Race to Vancouver Champions

Remember the biathlon? It was a challenge presented at New Beginnings. The challenge was to read and exercise daily over the course of a few months. The goal was to reach so many "miles" as a group that we would have traveled to Vancouver. Although we didn't reach our group goal, these girls pushed themselves and a few of them accomplished their individual goals. Way to go!

Blood Drive & YW Camp Garage Sale

A Big Thanks to all the girls that helped out. It was a lot of preparation, work, and clean up. The garage sale went well. The girls helped set up & organize all the items, count money, service the customers, and take down at the end of the day. The funds go to needed items for this years girls camp.
There were only a few girls over 17 yrs that could donate blood, but it was a good turn out and we helped save some lives that day.

Little Beehive Bakers

Tonight, for the beehive class activity, we baked cookies. Each girl was assigned an ingredient and we followed a recipe for chocolate chip cookies made from scratch. Some of the girls wanted the recipe, and I said that I'd post it on here. So if you want the recipe for these yummy treats follow this link:

Don't forget to check out the short video clip @ the end. And please leave comments. :)

The girls split up in 2 teams to make as many cookies as possible in the short time we had. So the following clip was made in hopes to motivate the girls.

This activity provided experience and preparation for 2 important life lessons:
1) Team work
2) Following instructions
Who knew baking cookies with 9 girls in one kitchen would teach such valuable lessons.
